South Dublin County Council is proud to champion youth creativity and environmental awareness through the Rubbish Film Festival. Our joint commitment to sustainable development ensures that young filmmakers not only learn new media skills but also gain an understanding of how local actions contribute to global change.
This is the third year that the Festival has run in partnership with South Dublin County Council. Over 50 students from 5 secondary schools across South Dublin County directly participated in an onsite two-day workshop focused on environmental storytelling through film.

The onsite Regional Awards were held at the Lighthouse Cinema, Dublin on the 19th March 2026, with many Dublin schools, and special guests Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr Ray McAdam and EAO Fionnghuala Ryan in attendance.
