Wicklow County Council is proud to champion youth creativity and environmental awareness through the Rubbish Film Festival. Our joint commitment to sustainable development ensures that young filmmakers not only learn new media skills but also gain an understanding of how local actions contribute to global change.
This is the fourth year that the Festival has run in partnership with Wicklow County Council. Over 130 students in 12 secondary schools across County Wicklow directly participated in an onsite two-day workshop focused on environmental storytelling through film.

The onsite Regional Awards were held at Clermont House on the 5th March 2026, with many schools, and special guests Cathaoirleach Cllr Graham Richmond, EAO Sarah Rubalcava, and Cllr Orla Finn in attendance.
