Australian Rubbish Film Festival Pilot Launch with ATOMQLD and COEX

With the valued support of Containers for Change QLD (COEX) Queensland, Australia, the Rubbish Film Festival is launching a 2026 pilot programme with Queensland schools, delivered in partnership with the Australian Teachers of Media Queensland (ATOMQLD).

The pilot invites students to explore sustainability and positive environmental action by creating one-minute films and posters, using devices common devices such as smartphones and tablets, available in schools, including phones and tablets.

The programme is designed to be curriculum-friendly, flexible, and easy to integrate into existing classroom practice.

Who is it suitable for?
✔️ Students in Years 9–11
✔️ Single classes, multiple classes, or cross-curricular projects

✔️ English
✔️ Visual Arts
✔️ Digital Technologies
✔️ Humanities & Social Sciences
✔️ Project-based and inquiry-led learning programmes

Participating schools receive a full suite of digital learning resources, including:

✔️ Step-by-step guidance for planning, filming and editing
✔️ Poster-making templates
✔️ Ongoing online support

This pilot marks an important step in expanding the Rubbish Film Festival internationally, while supporting teachers with high-quality, ready-to-use media and sustainability resources. With 10 schools already participating, this sponsorship allows us to expand the pilot and welcome additional schools.
