This page is to help teachers prepare for the festival
The Rubbish Film Festival gives students the chance to use their creativity to tackle important environmental issues. Each group produces a one-minute film with supporting material, taking full ownership of the process — from planning and scripting to acting, directing, filming, and editing. The result is a powerful opportunity for students to share their voice on global sustainability challenges.
Pre-Production
Part of the festival is deliverd online using specially design, simple to use videos and worksheets. We will also help with zoom calls to the class for directions and advice. Students will have their movie ready to shoot.
Production and Post-Production
A professional tutor will delivera full-day workshops in your school. Students will film, and edit a one-minute movie, and create a poster and promotional material.
Skills Development
Students learn the basics of filmmaking — scripting, shot types, camera angles, sound, and editing while exploring themes linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 12, SDG 13, and related goals).
Judging & Awards
On Day 2, projects are submitted for judging. Depending on the county, awards may be announced at an in-person event or online. Winning entries may go forward to the National Awards Ceremony.

After The Workshop
Entries are submitted at the end of of the workshop. Depending on the county, awards may be announced onsite or online, with winners going forward to the National Awards Ceremony.
To make sure the Rubbish Film Festival runs smoothly and fairly for all schools, a few simple rules apply. Please review these guidelines before the workshops begin.
For the workshop to run we only need a few things
The students will be asked to fill in a feedback form on their experience. This is important to continue funding
Teacher Feedback
The Teachers will be asked to fill ina feedback form. Thjis is a vital necesssity for the coninued funding of the project.
Certificates
Certificates will be issues to the names on the consent forms. These will be sent deigitally to the main contact.
The facilitator will need access to the internet with his/her devices.

Create up to 2 groups with your class
Online course delivery
Mover through the videos and worksheets for both groups, ending when they have a film idea, storyboard, cast and crew and are ready to shoot

-A projector and screen/whiteboard with speakers and HDMI Cable
Each County Council decides whether the Regional Finals will take place onsite or online.
