Today, Transition Year students from St. Declan’s Community College featured in an article published by regional paper “Waterford News & Star” that highlights their participation in The Rubbish Film Festival 2026.
Along with over 150 schools across the Ireland, the students of St. Declan’s Community College were tasked to create a 1-minute film that highlights an environmental theme linked to one of two UN Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, namely; SDG 12: Responsible Consumption & Production, and SDG 13: Climate Action.
Selecting overconsumption as the focus of their film, students worked collaboratively to plan, film, edit and promote their ideas to create their submission, ‘Link in Bio.‘
Rubbish Film Festival workshops encourage creative thinking and problem-solving, with students using film and design as ways to communicate about global challenges that they care about, from their own perspectives.
The Rubbish Film Festival is proud to support young people in developing creative skills and engaging critically with environmental issues through film.
